Capture Your Grief – Day 15 – Wave of Light

Tonight, Ben and I will light a candle in memory of our beautiful baby Elliot Kathryn, alongside family, friends, and parents alike. I know so many wonderful parents who are traveling the same difficult road that we set out on six and a half months ago. Together, we travel a road that we did not ask to go down. We walk this road without choice. Of course, Ben and I will always remember Elliot. We will also remember the other babies gone from this earth too soon. Please say their names with me.

To the parents who shared their stories of loss with me in confidence, we remember your babies too.

We remember my Nana’s baby who was stillborn many years ago. My heart breaks for all loss parents, but I am especially heartbroken for my Nana. She suffered in silence for many years. She never got to see, hold, name, or talk about her baby. That’s how things were back then. She died several years ago. I really wish we had the chance to talk about our babies together. I truly believe Nana was reunited with her baby in Heaven. And I believe they are both looking after Elliot for us. Our sweet Elliot has many loved ones looking after her in Heaven.

We remember Ben’s cousins, Anthony and Kathryn. They may have been older children when they died, 11 and 20 years old respectively, but they are still their parents’ babies.

At 7pm, we will light our candle for Elliot. We will think of Elliot and all the other babies and children gone too soon. I invite you to do the same.

XOXO
